Well, it took my wife and I about 2 and a half hours to get to Chino, in the rain. Once we got there, we discovered that we would be dining in part of the museum right next to a Wright Flier model and a P47 Thunderbolt, to name a few of the planes in the room. We had a dinner of BBQ Chicken, tri tip and all the fixin's. My wife and I then proceeded to self tour the museum. We were able to get up close and personal with a lot of WWII aircraft. Mustangs, Corsairs, Hellcat, P40, A real, working Mitsubishi Zero, WWI German triplane and Sopwith American planes.
To be able to view the aircraft up close as we did was well worth the trip. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see the P38 Lightning. However, I did get to sit in the cockpit of a P51 mustang! Not too shabby! All in all a fine evening spent with my wife and some other ladies (of the air). I highly recommend making a trip down to see the museum if you appreciate WWII aircraft.
Some pics.

Wow, cool. Bet it was great to hang out with those old birds. Earlier this year, I went to a Red Cross volunteer banquet at the Camarillo museum and they had all the planes on display. It was excellent.
How was the party otherwise? The band and such? I wasn't able to make this one, but I wouldn't mind coming out next year.

No band, but period music for sure. Very little dancing happening. I think more people were interested in checking out the planes and just hanging out. Still very awkward to see German officer dress uniforms, especially for the "Super Special" unit.
